Democratic Republic Of Congo
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared an Ebola outbreak in north- east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
This after the death of three people following tests on nine people who came down with a hemorrhagic fever in Bas-Uele province in the north of the country .
One of the victims tested positive for the Ebola virus Congo’s health ministry and WHO said.
WHO added that the Ebola case in the central Africa nation was confirmed by a national reference laboratory in the capital Kinshasa.
WHO says it is supporting the Ministry of Health in DRC on response to prevent the spread of the virus.
Ebola last struck DRC in 2014 where about 50 people died from the virus, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
WHO swift response to the latest outbreak is being viewed as way the organisation is saving face following a damning report published in late 2015, that blamed WHO for failing to respond soon enough to the 2014 Ebola crisis in West Africa that left more than 11,000 people dead.
